UW-Stout’s Devon Manuele, studying applied sciences, was recently awarded on a national scale for his research on increasing the efficiency of small hydroelectric generators. Under the supervision of Professor Tom Lacksonsen, Manuele’s research pertaining to electrical improvement in Malawi, Africa could help to build a more efficient foundation for the hydroelectric generator.
Manuele received his $1,200 scholarship at the National Role Models Conference in Washington, D.C. where took first place in the Minority Access 12th annual Undergraduate Student Research Competition in the engineering and technology category. With his research in the production of hydroelectric generators, he hopes to make a profound difference in remote areas of the world.
